Five Gorgeous Diaries for 2017

It's October! Let's talk 2017 diaries. We know it's early, but the Brown Thomas Christmas Shop has been open for months, so we're taking creative license. Diaries are an important purchase, a once-a-year splurge that deserves due consideration. After all, they need to survive 12 months of hardship and they need to have a pattern that you won't hate by March. Here are five that caught our eye....

Paperchase - Gothic Garden Magnetic Diary €13.00

Paperchase actually have a stunning range of diaries for 2017, we really struggled to pick our favourite and this is the cheapest option on our list. We just love the gothic glam vibe with the gold detailing.

This beautiful magnetic diary has an intense floral design on the hardback cover with a gold foiled 2017 title. It contains a beautifully printed diary with 2 days per page as well as calendars and year planners up to 2018 and useful information like important holidays. It also has a very practical expanding pocket at the back for loose papers and notes and a blue ribbon page marker. It's a steal!

Paperblanks - Jane Austen, Persuasion Diary €18.95

We'll be honest, we've been faithful to Paperblanks Diaries since 2012. Their diaries are durable, affordable and make us feel very adult. We do love this Jane Austen inspired diary, but on the whole, the 2017 range feels like it could do with a freshen up, it would be exciting to have more new designs introduced.

Inspired by Jane Austen's last completed work, Persuasion (1818), this Paperblanks 2017 12-Month Dayplanner cover reproduces a page from the original manuscript. We definitely feel like the spirit of Jane would seep through the pages and inspire us to bring our A-game 2017.

Simply Notebooks, Marble Effect Planner €25.00

We couldn't decide whether to include this diary, I mean, is marble already over? Will we all hate marble by next summer? Will marble only be touted by the most basic people? We just don't know... but it's pretty so we let it slide.

There are lots of customisable elements to this planner, which we love. You can choose your colour scheme for the internal tabs (pink, beige or grey) and you can have your name embossed on the front cover in gold lettering. If that's not enough, you can also upgrade your planner to include budget planning pages, a weekly meal planner, contacts and passwords pages.

Kate Spade - Young Lady of Fashion Diary €42.00

Would any diary list be complete without a Kate Spade addition? This super cute diary is available from My Shining Armour and has "The Diary of a Young Lady of Fashion in the year 2017" embossed on the front in gold foil.
It's the most expensive diary included on our list, but we just know that this would look good year round and totally up our handbag contents game. It promises to make you super efficient and includes monthly and weekly spreads, note pages and laminated dividers.

Lilac Coast - Midnight, Diary €38.98

Available from Not On The Highstreet, this dark navy diary delicately embossed with gold looks like it just fell off an old bookshelf in a fairytale castle.

It features a midnight blue book cloth cover, copper foil accents and perfect binding. It also has stunning illustrated end pages (see below), and inspirational quotes strewn throughout.  Other features include a pocket folder, sections for celebrations, notes and important contacts. We love.
Which one is your favourite and have we missed any showstoppers? Let us know in the comments!

Book Review: Poems For Love selected by Laura Barber

On a recent wander around Hodges Figgis on a lazy Saturday afternoon, this collection of love poems selected by Laura Barber caught our eye. We wish we could pretend that we're very proper literary folks who regularly quote Tennyson, Whitman and Keats in our daily conversations but that would be a big old lie. The truth is that we own very few poetry books and we bought this because we're devastating romantics who wanted to read some delectable poems about love.

The book blurb reads:
Here are poems to take you on a journey from the 'suddenly' of love at first sight to the 'truly, madly, deeply' of infatuation and on to the 'eternally' of love that lasts beyond the end of life, along the way taking in flirtation, passion, fury, betrayal and broken hearts. Bringing together the greatest love poetry from around the world and through the ages, ranging from W. H. Auden to William Shakespeare, John Donne to Emily Dickinson, Robert Browning to Roger McGough, this new anthology will delight, comfort and inspire anyone who has ever tasted love - in any of its forms
