This summer, the talents of two of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl and Steven Spielberg – finally unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic The BFG to life. Directed by Spielberg, The BFG tells the imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country.
To celebrate the film release, and to honour Roald Dahl in this, the year of the 100th anniversary of his birth, Entertainment One are launching an exciting poetry competition for primary school students in association with Writing.ie. To enter, children must write a poem about the most fantastic, magical dream they ever had.
There are lots of splendiferous (brilliant) prizes which will be awarded to the most creative poems. The top five entrants will win official The BFG merchandise and their fantastic poems will be published on Writing.ie. The overall winner, as chosen by Writing.ie editor Vanessa, will also win exclusive family ticket to the premiere of The BFG in Dublin on the 17th July to be one of the very first people in Ireland to see the film.
The competition is open to children currently in 1st class up to 5th class of primary school. Please provide the child’s name, age, class, school, county and a guardian’s phone number with the entry.
All entries must be emailed to the TheBFG@limelight.ie or posted to The BFG, Limelight Communications, 60 Grand Canal St Upper, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4
Deadline for entries is Midnight Wednesday 6th July
