Films Based on our Favourite Young Adult Fiction Books

We're checking out the films that are rumoured, in post production and to be released soon, based on our favourite young adult books.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1
Based on the legendary Hunger Games books by Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay Part 1 opens in Irish cinemas next Thursday 20th November. 

The worldwide phenomenon of The Hunger Games continues to set the world on fire with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta and a nation moved by her courage.



Insurgent
Part two of the promising film franchise, Divergent, based on the hit books by Veronica Roth will hit Irish cinemas in March 2015. 

Insurgent raises the stakes for Tris as she searches for allies and answers in the ruins of a futuristic Chicago. Tris and Four are now fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine, the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. Racing against time, they must find out what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Haunted by her past choices but desperate to protect the ones she loves, Tris, with Four at her side, faces one impossible challenge after another as they unlock the truth about the past and ultimately the future of their world.



Films in post-production

Fallen 
Currently in post-production Fallen is based on the hit book of the same name by Lauren Kate. Rumoured for release in 2015, Fallen stars Addison Timlin (That Awkward Moment) alongside Jeremy Irvine (star of War Horse, and upcoming Woman in Black 2).

Fallen tells the story of a young girl who finds herself in a reform school after therapy since she was blamed for the death of a young boy. At the school she finds herself drawn to a fellow student, unaware that he is an angel, and has loved her for thousands of years.

Artemis Fowl based on the book by Eoin Colfer

Daughter of Smoke and Bone based on the book by Laini Taylor

Shadow and Bone based on the book by Leigh Bardugo
